Seychelles Islands Beaches - Holidays in the Sun on Exotic Tropical Islands

Thinking of Seychelles Islands? Thinking of an exotic holiday? Imagine sun and deserted beaches. Think of warm seas 365 days a year. Dream of tropical islands without hurricanes. Dream of beaches - coral white beaches, pink beaches... It sounds like heaven, right? Or just Fantasy Island? Well the Seychelles group of islands is just such a place in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

Seychelles is one of the most unusual of exotic islands. Some call it paradise. Some call it home. It is my home - a gem still to be discovered and enjoyed by the discerning few. Mass tourism here is not encouraged to preserve its character and charm.

Seychelles can be enjoyed the year round. There are no winters here. The temperatures hover around 29 and 30°C during the day and 26 to 27°C at night. So the sea is always warm - come rain or shine. Yes it does rain in the Seychelles and quite heavily at that when it does. The lush green islands are testament to that fact.

The Seychelles is made up of 155 islands in two distinct groups. 42 of these are rocky and mountainous and the rest are flat coral islands - mostly sand cays but some are raised coral islands, like in the Aldabra group.

The sand cays are no more than 3 metres above high water mark, so when there was that huge Tsunami that hit the Indian Ocean a couple of years ago the islanders were understandably concerned, expecting the worse, but other than some simulated extra-high tides on the coast all passed without incidents much to their relief.

Most visitors to Seychelles tend to stay on the rocky islands, two of which rise to a peak of almost 1000 metres (3000ft). For a small island measuring 3 to 5 kilometres (2 to 3 miles) across this is indeed very high. The majority of the population live on the three main islands, Mahe, Praslin and la Digue, which are of ancient granite rocks.

Languages spoken in the Seychelles are English, French and Creole. There are no indigenous natives of Seychelles. All trace their past to the first French settlers and their African slaves. The first European colonists gave way to the English as the war for control of the seas in that region intensified 250 years ago.

Seychelles is a relatively new nation, which attained self-determination in 1976. It is now in what is popularly referred to as the "third republic" phase in its recent history. The late 1970s and early 1980s was a time of upheaval in Seychelles with coups and counter-coup plots but now it is at peace and you can enjoy it without fear.

The islands have weathered their man-made storm and the Seychelles people seem to have put their past behind them and are pulling their weights in a unified direction. The people there are called Seychellois (masculine) and Seychelloise (feminine).

They eat fish at least 10 to 12 times a week, and fishing has always been a favourite pastime in these islands - not surprisingly with such abundance. I've heard seasoned anglers, who travel half way around the world to come fish the Seychelles waters, refer to Seychelles as the GT capital of the world (GT standing for Giant Trevally) and they are real giants attaining 60 pounds or more. Well there are thousands of species of fish in the seas around the Seychelles Islands.

It has not always been all good in Seychelles but the people are easygoing. So as a place to live Seychelles is one of the best in the world. As a holiday destination it is a paradise and second to none. It has a tempered tropical climate, so if you want to run away from your cold winters or your very hot summers Seychelles is the place 365 / 365.

Having said all that don't expect paradise to come cheap. Yes Seychelles is quite costly. Nothing is cheap here. So if you decide to visit or live in Seychelles you should have a fairly large budget. The reason for the high cost of living is that most necessities are imported.

The mainstay of the country's economy used to be cinnamon and coconuts. Since the opening of the Seychelles airport in 1972, this has changed, and now the focus is tourism and industrial fishing, of which tuna is the most important.

Orlando Day Trips

We went down to the Keys, past Miami and saw the southern most tip of the United States of America. The yellow coconuts on the palm trees were amazing. The azure lagoons and inlets along the coast were stunning.

On another trip, starting from Orlando, we meandered down to Lake Okeechobee, avoiding the toll roads the whole way. When we got there we saw a lake so vast we could not see the other side. We did not see much else. Not even a souvenir stand.

We went east a couple of times to watch some space launches at NASA and check out the east coast beaches. Beach going is nice any time except the hurricane season. If you have not seen a night launch of the space shuttle you have really missed something. Watching the light from those rocket engines split the horizon and turn night into day is a once in a once in a lifetime event.

We were not yet done with a star burst pattern emanating from Orlando throughout the state of Florida so we trickled north and eastward toward Blue Springs State Park.   It is said that ancient sailors, after voyages of many years, mistook the manatees for mermaids. From the board walk that lines the forest paths you will never get close enough to tell the difference.   The spring itself is a deep wound in the earth from which exudes an upwelling of warm water like the blood of the earth. The spring flow is so strong that fish can swim in it without moving. After all, as far a relative motion is concerned whether the water moves or the fish moves it's all the same. To an observer from the boardwalk peering down the fish appear motionless. It as though they were trapped by some invisible force that keeps them still and suspended in space.

We went west and north to Homosassa-even though we had no hope of pronouncing it. Once you get to the park and pay the entry fee, you get a boat trip.    On this boat ride you can see wildlife such as egrets, cormorants, wood ducks, and gators as you float along. After twenty minutes or so you get out and go to the main park.  For manatee viewing this must be one of the best parks by far. You can even watch from underneath the manatees while the park rangers and volunteers feed the beasts from above in a kind of observation aquarium. It is amazing to get so near such a large animal and to the hundreds of fish that crowd around to feast on the tidbits that go amiss.  The manatees appear to be weightless in the warm, crystal clear waters. Warm springs are one of the few places where the fat can appear graceful. Along with the manatees is an entire menagerie including various exotic tropical birds, alligators and even one hippo.  There are lizards and snakes and foxes, oh my! Bring your digital camera. You will find something to take photos of.

As long as we were in the general area we decided to check out Crystal River. If you are merely on foot-don't. Just don't. The archaeological digs are basically a graveyard and boy are they dead. They are burial mounds. Wow, that's a lot of dirt. Okay and some hundred year old oyster shells. Boy, those oysters are dead too.

We made a trip to Ft Meyers. The boats and canals and are not uninteresting. I doubt that you would want to drive all the way from Orlando just to see them.

Out near Tampa way, anything from Clearwater south is lovely to look at.   Lots of sweet beaches.  Plenty of trinkets if you are into the tourist trap thing. Lots of crowds if you like that kind of thing. Lots of bikini babes. In fact I would say more babes per square inch than say Cocoa beach on the east coast.

Aruba For a Worthwhile Vacation

Aruba is a little, popular island resort of the Netherlands Antilles situated just north of Venezuela. It has been a favorite getaway place for many people from different walks of life because of its beautiful tourist attractions.

Unique and attractive scenic cites are abundant, such as the Indian caves, parks, and a natural rock bridge. Its white sandy beaches are good for swimming, kayaking, and snorkeling adventures.

It has many accessible and luxurious vacation hotels with best room and kitchen amenities. If you are not yet familiar with Aruba, learn the many exciting tourist spots you can go to when you vacation here.

Oranjestad
Oranjestad is the capital city of Aruba placed in the southern coast of the western island. This is a tremendously picturesque city featuring Dutch Colonial architectures. Shopping malls are mostly located near downtown.

Dive Sites
There are several areas in Aruba ideal for diving and snorkeling activities because of its lagoons, rifts and base. The Jane See and Antilia wreck between Malmok and Arashi are two of the famous dive sites. The Bird Roof, Commanders Bay, Little Lagoon, and Bachelor Point Reefs are also alternative diving sites.

California Lighthouse
This is one of the best landmarks of Aruba established in 1914. Accordingly, its name is taken from the ship called California that navigated around the Northwest coast of Aruba in September 1891. It has superb, beautiful white sandy beaches around.

Boca Prins
The trade winds constantly altered these massive sand dunes. Dune sliding is one of the well-known sports in Aruba.

Natural Bridge
Constant wave erosion caused the formation of this 30 meters (100 feet) bridge. This area is convenient for picnics but not swimming.

Alto Vista Chapel
Alto Vista Chapel is one of the legendary historical places of Aruba. A Spanish missionary, Domingo Antonio Silvestre was said to be the proponent of this chapel known as Pilgrim's Church in 1750. The Stations of the Cross serve as the landmark going to the chapel.

Archaeological Museum
Aruba is home to some olden relics being preserved and displayed in this archaeological museum. Stone tools from 2000 B.C, pottery, sling stones, funeral artifacts and skeletal remains from 500 A.D are also presented.

Wilhelmina Park
Wilhelmina Park was built in honor of Prince Bernhard and Queen Juliana of Netherlands in 1955. A marble sculpture of the queen mother, Wilhelmina, a masterpiece of Arnoldo Lualdi of Italy is also there.

Amerindian Caves
The Caribs and Arawak Indians were once the settlers of these caves. Pre-Columbian petroglyphs, stalactites and stalagmites can also be seen here. A small museum with native wildlife and a Chinese garden are situated nearby.

Hooiberg
A historic volcanic eruption caused this 165-meters high hill into existence. There are concretely 562 steps leading to the top in order to have a panoramic sight-seeing of the island.

Beaches
Beach outing is a very popular hangout among tourists. 11 kilometers to 7 miles continuous white sand beaches and calm waters are found in the northwest coast of Aruba such as Eagle Beach and Palm Beach.

The beaches situated in the east coast such as Boca Grandi, Dos Playa, and Boca Andicuri have stronger currents and bigger waves, and are not recommended for swimming.

More advanced wind surfers can enjoy the strong waves in this side. Inexperienced swimmers can explore the less populated with shallow basin and calm water of baby beaches in the southeast side.

How to Avoid Magic Kingdom Crowds - Dad's Top 5 Tips

The Magic Kingdom is a magnet for Disney World crowds. It's by far the number one amusement park in attendance every year. Crowds and long lines are annoying. Here are some ways to avoid Magic Kingdom crowds and to have a magical Disney World vacation.

Tip #1 - Get to the park early. Yes, come on lazy bones, get out of bed and get going. Disney World vacations are not a time for sleeping. You can sleep when you get home. Yes, I kidding, but just a little bit. You will find that in the first two hours the Magic Kingdom is open the lines are half as long as they are for the rest of the day.

This is tip number one of you have young ones (children) that will want to spend time in Fantasyland. Dumbo and Peter Pan's Flight both develop very long lines within an hour of the park opening on busy days.

Tip #2 - Make a plan, but be flexible. The best time saver is to have a plan, especially if it's a plan the whole family, or group, has agreed to. Many guests spend at least an hour a day trying to decide what to do next. If you have a general plan (it doesn't have to be minute by minute) you will save lots of standing around time saying what are we going to do next, and you will be ahead of the crowd.

There are things that can mess up any plan. Big tour groups, rain, broken attractions all can reek havoc on the best plan ever devised. Let me let you in on a little secret - Disney World isn't going anywhere. It will still be there next year, the year after, 10 years from now. So if you miss something it's OK. Come back later.

Tip #3 - Extra Magic Hours. If you are a Disney World Resort (Disney Hotel) guest you are eligible for Extra Magic Hours. This is a great time to beat the crowds. On selected days the Magic Kingdom will open either one hour early or stay open up to three extra hours. WARNING: This does not happen every day. Make sure you know the latest schedule that Disney publishes on their website.

Early (morning) Extra Magic Hours are great. You can tour the park until the crowds show up and then hop over to another park, or take a afternoon to explore some of Disney's great hotels.

The Evening Extra Magic Hours can really be a Disney World crowd buster. Just think, the park closes at 10:00 pm. Hordes of people file out, and you're there for another 3 hours. Space Mountain here I come.

Tip #4 - Use FastPass - Several years ago Disney started a new program they call FastPass. It allows guests to get a ticket with a return time to bypass the regular line and get in the much faster FastPass line. On some attractions this can save up to two hours or more. FastPass is available for most of the attractions that develop long lines, but not all.

There is a drawback to FastPass. If the return time doesn't fit into your schedule, you might want to skip the attraction, or bite the bullet and stand in line.
Tip #5 - Ride the busiest rides first. If you arrive at the Magic Kingdom within the first hour of the park opening, try to get the rides that develop long lines done early. If you have teenagers, your best bet will be to head straight to one of the "Mountains" (Space, Splash or Big Thunder) and ride one of them. If you have small children and  Dumbo is on your agenda, go there first, then ride Peter Pan's Flight.

Bonus Tip - Stop and Smell the Roses. Mac Brown had a great song in the 70's that talked about slowing down and noticing the small things in life. It's easy at Walt Disney World to get into the "hurry up or we'll miss..." mode. The Magic Kingdom is home to some of the most wonderful flora you will ever see. Every inch of Main Street gets scraped down and painted every year. A Barbershop Quartet puts on a great show several times most days. There is a talking trash can in Tomorrowland, you can wake up Tinkerbell in the morning at the gift shop. The park is full of great little extras that get missed by lots of hurrying guests.

A Walt Disney World vacation will create memories that will last a lifetime. Your time in the Magic Kingdom will be more enjoyable if you follow these tips.

All of these are part of the deciding factor which will determine if you pay the discounted or regular price for airline tickets.

Maui is blessed with wonderful weather, mild tropical breezes and abundant sunshine year round. Development here is at an optimal point with enough hotels, condos and restaurants to suit every desire and budget but not yet so overdone as to interfere with the timeless beauty of the island. To say that Maui is paradise is an understatement; it gets under your skin in a good way, calling you time and again to its shores to once again repeat the adventures that thrilled you, to discover new ones, to seek out its beauty once again and to relax at one of its fine resorts returning home refreshed and renewed and glowing with the spirit of aloha.

You can choose from various locales to call home base, whether it is Kaanapali or Kapalua to the north, or Kihei, Wailea or Makena to the south, yet easily explore any other part of the island in a day or less. Must see sights include the 10,000 foot Haleakala National Park, the road to Hana and the Oheo Gulch through tropical rainforest and spectacular waterfalls, the gorgeous Iao Needle and the quirky town of Lahaina. Adventures abound on Maui including biking down from the volcano, horseback riding in the crater or on the beach, hiking along the coastline or through the rainforest, golfing the superb golf courses, swimming and snorkeling in the beautiful bays, surfing, scuba, windsurfing, parasailing and more.

During the winter and spring months, whale watching is a joy as mother whales give birth to babies and the whales in general are relaxed and often playful. Whale watching is available both on boat tours and even from the shore as the whales love to swim and play along Maui's coast, making Maui the number one choice for whale watching in Hawaii.

Maui has some of the best snorkeling in North America. Whether you are snorkeling in one of Maui's gorgeous bays, out at the crescent shaped crater of Molokini or at neighboring Lanai, you will be overwhelmed by the undersea beauty - the colorful tropical reef fish, the coral and, of course, the amazing green sea turtles.

There are numerous golf courses on Maui and it can rightly be called a golfer's paradise. Most resort areas have several courses to choose from, one more beautiful and challenging than the next.

Eating on Maui is also an adventure with nationally acclaimed chefs creating mouth-watering dishes, utilizing the abundant fish found in local waters as well as fresh produce grown on the island. You can find a wide variety of restaurants here from the typical U.S. chains to very high end gourmet experiences. The Breathtaking Beaches of Cape Town

While Cape Town is most certainly known for its close proximity to numerous wine estates and routes, there are also numerous beaches in the local area that are ideal if you are a beach fan. On these gorgeous beaches you can fly a kite, ride a horse, surf the waves, snorkel in the shallow waters, watch the penguins, sail on a hobie-cat, explore an historical shipwreck or just simply soak up the warm sunshine.

Big Bay and Little Bay is the perfect location if you want to take a family outing, fly a kite, go windsurfing or enjoy views of Table Mountain. These beaches stretch about 20 kilometers north of Cape Town and offer absolutely spectacular views of Table Mountain. The strong south-easterly winds provides the perfect opportunity for kitesurfing and even sailing hobie cats.

Boulders Beach in Simons Town is the ideal location for snorkeling, sheltered swimming and penguin watching. If you are looking for a laid-back beach destination, this is definitely it. You will find Simons town to be a quaint beach town that is a former navy seaport. This is the last town you will reach before arriving at Cape Point Nature Reserve. Boulders Beach is situated just a few kilometers away. The giant boulders located along the beach provide seclusion and protection from the wind. Be sure to be on the lookout for the hundreds of Jackass Penguins that make their home in the local area. Listen to them just once and you'll quickly understand how they gained their name.

Camps Bay is the perfect beach for sunbathing, surfing, diving, windsurfing and beach volleyball. The fine sand and palms that dot the beach are the ideal backdrop for a family picnic while the restaurants and shops provide ample opportunity to escape from the midday sun.

Clifton Beach is the place to see and be seen. It is also a great location for watching paragliders as they come in for a landing. Of course, if you simply want to sunbathe, it's great for that too. Relax on the beach and watch the yachts as they rest in the shallows or grab a favorite book and catch up on your reading. Just do not be surprised by the veritable rainbow of paragliders as they come sailing down from Lions Head in order to catch the updrafts before landing on Clifton Beach.

Fish Hoek Beach is known for boogie boarding, sailing, safe swimming and pure family fun. The warm waters here offer the perfect location for swimming. If sailing is on your agenda, this beach is also ideal for taking out a nimble hobie-cat for a quick spin through the local waters. There is also a children's playground as well as a café. Tokyo City is on the Constant Move

Tokyo, capital city of Japan since 1869, is one of the most populated metropolitan cities in the world. Believe it or not, Tokyo City is complex, big and always on the move. Be warned, if you are in Tokyo City for the first time, you will be greeted with the city's saturated big concrete high rise building, very wide roads, raised concrete expressways crossing one another.

This remarkable city is also where the old meets the young. You can be in the most modern place such as Roppongi in one minute and you can wonder down the street to experience a traditional old shrine or town the next moment. This is the beauty of exploring the City of Tokyo.

Greater Tokyo has 23 wards (ku), 26 smaller cities, 7 towns and 8 villages. To have an appreciation of its size, the distance from the east to west is 88 km (55 mil) while it is 24km (15 mil) from north to south. The way Tokyo City is organized seems to be a bit complicated in terms of finding a place even with address. You are not alone as the local themselves find it difficult as well. The best way to go about it is to ask for direction. In Tokyo city, there are numerous koban (local police box) where you can approach for help. Believe it or not, the policemen spent most of their time helping people finding their destination. The lesson here is to always bring along the location map of your accommodation. You can get it from your hotel.

The City of Tokyo is really a big place and the best way to know this city is to have an introductory city tour. You can start your day by visiting the Meiji Shrine at Shibuya ku. The Meiji Shrine sits in Yoyoji Park. This is one of the must-see religious sites in Tokyo which was dedicated to Emperor Meiji, the first emperor of modern Japan. During New Year, it draws a million-plus of crowds. This gives you enough good reasons to pay a visit.

The next place to visit is the Imperial Palace East Garden. Along the way, you will travel past the National Diet Building recognized by its pyramid-shaped dome. This building houses the Japanese parliament. There is a free 60-minute tour of the Sangi-in or House of Councillors or Lower House when the Diet is not in session. If you are interested and have sufficient time, do come back here again.

The Imperial Palace East Garden (Higashi-Gyoen) is open to public but not everyday. It is close on Monday and Friday. If you happen to be there on these two days, can visit the Imperial Palace Plaza instead. In the garden, you can have a closed up view on the massive stones that built the castle walls, visit the Museum of Imperial Collections and enjoy a stroll on the typical Japanese garden. There are three gates to the garden and the most commonly used gate is the Ote-mon on the east. The Ote-mon is closed to the Tokyo Station and this was the principal entrance to Edo Castle for more than 200 years.

After visiting the Imperial Place East Garden, it will be almost half a day gone and is a good time take a rest and have lunch. If you are with a tour group, your lunch will mostly be included. However, if you are on you own, do not worry. There are plenty of eateries in the city of Tokyo, ranging from restaurant to fast food outlet. One of the best bet is to get into the basement of a department stores where you can find food in the basement food hall. You can visit the nearby Mitsukoshi Department Store in Tokyo's Gina district where you can eat to your hearts content. Finding suitable choices of food to suit you appetite is never a problem in Tokyo because there are simply too many to chose from. If you are not in for Japanese food, then go for a simple burger.

The next stop will probable be the most celebrated district of Asakusa. Do you know what, I visited this place twice when I was in the City of Tokyo. This place is famous for the Sensoji Temple (Asakusa Kannon Temple) and the colorful Nakamise walkway leading to the temple. The Nakamise walkway is lined with many colorful stores leading up to Sensoji Temple, Tokyo's oldest and most famous Buddhist temple. This is where you can get all your souvenirs.

The last visit on your agenda might be the futuristic Odaiba which has become one of Tokyo's most popular areas. You can cross over to this island via the Rainbow Bridge and enjoy the view of Tokyo bay. At Odiba you can visit places like the Palette Town, the Aqua City and the unusual shopping mall of Venus Fort. It is rather a big place with some wonderful parks to stroll.

That is about all for an introductory day tour for Tokyo City. To fully enjoy the beauty of this city, you should pick one or more places to explore. For more informationon, please visit City of Tokyo.

Staying in a Luxury Honeymoon Accommodation in New Zealand

Your wedding day comes and goes quickly. All of those months of planning can wear you out, both mentally and physically. We all know the next step (traditionally) is the honeymoon, but even this can provide unnecessary stress when deciding where to go! Might I recommend that you look at some of the luxury honeymoon accommodations on offer in New Zealand?

New Zealand is situated in the south western Pacific Ocean, southeast of Australia and neighbour to Fiji, Tonga and New Caledonia and consists of two main islands - aptly named the North and the South Islands, along with a number of smaller islands off of the coast lines. With miles of coastline, mountain, urban and rural areas, you are spoilt for choice of the number of locations you could stay on your honeymoon.

There are a number of luxury accommodations situated throughout both the North and South Islands (and on some of the smaller islands) all offering different experiences, but most of all the opportunity for you and your newlywed to relax and rejuvenate whilst enjoying quality time together.

I can hear you thinking that luxury honeymoon accommodation is going to cost you a fortune, but this is not always the case. Many providers in New Zealand offer honeymoon packages, which can consist of a bottle of bubbly, meals, full use of the facilities on offer and of course your luxury suite. Another option is to ask for gift vouchers as your wedding present, for the New Zealand accommodation of your choice. This way you can either have your stay completely paid for or at the very least, cheaper than paying for the full booking.

Now I know you are dying to find out what locations there are to stay at. It's needless to say that I could not mention them all here, but some popular honeymoon spots are :
- Northland : Cape Reinga, Dargaville, Matakana Coast
- Coromandel : Whangamata, Waihi, Whitianga
- Bay of Islands : Kerikeri, Russell, Paihia
- Marlborough : Picton, Blenheim, Kaikoura
- Canterbury : Christchurch, Waipara, Timaru
Don't be limited by these selections though, have a look on the internet or search some good old fashioned accommodation directories. Lodges and B & B's are a great way to go as you get a more personalised service, which is something not a lot of people experience in this day and age.

With a New Zealand luxury honeymoon accommodation you will experience a warm welcome from your hosts, who will have extensive knowledge of the area they are in. If you plan to get out and about for a touch of sightseeing, your hosts will be able to recommend some ideal activities and places to visit, otherwise sit back and enjoy the luxurious setting you find yourself in.

So now that you are day dreaming of the idea of sitting in a luxurious spa, a glass of champagne next to you and a superb meal being prepared for you, why not come back to reality and start the search with your fiancee to find the luxury honeymoon accommodation of choice in New Zealand.

Israel - 5 Reasons to Enjoy

Israel is probably not what you expect: it's not just about suicide bombers, stone-throwers and angry Jewish settlers attacking Arab shepherds...This article gives an insight into 5 of the really GOOD things about the Holy Land....

1. The Weather, the weather, the weather!

There's nothing like long, hot summers to keep you from even beginning to contemplate a return to your origins...such as cold, rainy days in the UK (in the middle of August). It does get very sticky in Israel in July and August, but there's nothing like December days sat on the beach, with the Mediterranean metres away...

2. The Food

It might take some getting used to, but Israel has a myriad of great food options to try. We highly recommend you try the local shipudnikim (barbecued meat) in downtown Schuna HaTikva (South Tel Aviv), an area renowned for its cheap, delicious meats and salads, or the national icon that is falafel. Don't forget to try dishes like hummous and tehina, or the large variety of cheap, fresh fruit and vegetables available throughout the year (mangos, watermelon, avocados, oranges, bananas etc , depending on the time of year). If you strike it lucky and get to sit at a big family meal, you might be amazed at the array of salads spread before you (especially if your hosts are of Sephardim origin - such as Iraq, Iran or Yemen).

3. The People

It's a question of getting used to the locals, especially if you're here for some time. When you first come across them, they do appear extraordinarily arrogant and rude. But, take our word for it, they do grow on you...and their legendary hospitality can be very moving.

4. The Openness

The freedom to express yourself and not feel ashamed, the relaxed code of dress (spot the bank manager in jeans)...though, of course, there are limits, such as the shouting and ranting at innocent, though less than helpful, government clerks.

5. The Scenery & Landscape

Bali Island Holidays - An Untouched Tropical Paradise

If you want a holiday in a place where the modern world has reached, but not tainted, Bali is one of the last options open to you in the world! Bali does a thriving trade in tourism, but mostly the island is an untouched wilderness, where locals still speak their own language, and if you've chosen a more secluded villa in Bali, all you'll be able to hear after the sun goes down is the chirping of crickets and croaking of frogs. Today we look at the awesome options for private accommodation in Bali, quiet attractions and beaches in Bali for those who would truly like to get away from the rest of the world.

Private retreats in Bali

Bali is full of beautiful, private, isolated, and tranquil accommodation. In fact, after visiting some of the places that are considered 'quiet' and 'out of the way' in Bali, you might re-think your need for the company of random strangers! You'll be looking mostly for villas in Bali, if you want a private Bali holiday. Previous tourists in Bali on TripAdvisor have recommended these Bali hotels for privacy and seclusion:

* The Laguna Resort and Spa in Nusa Dua
* The Chedi Club at Tanah Gajah in Ubud
* Spa Village Resort Tembok Bali
* Komaneka at Monkey Forest in Ubud
* Kupu Kupu Barong Villas & Tree Spa in Ubud

These Bali villas are much more than little hotel rooms, this is reflected in the price. However, your credit card will soon forgive you when you are sitting on a quiet verandah in the mountains, or sipping cocktails on the pristine beaches!

Private attractions in Bali

Between the serene accommodation in Bali, and the many private attractions, it would be entirely possible to have a vacation without encountering more than ten people you'd never met before! Checking out Bali's secluded beaches is an obvious must-do; we'll explore the best private beach options in a moment. If you want to do more than just laze around or enjoy the water, why not check out:

* Uluwatu Half Day tour: You'll get to check out 100 metre rocky drops to the ocean, the Kayangan Jagat temple, and the place where holy man Dang Hyang Nirartha came to his enlightenment.
* Besakih Mother Temple Tour: This full day tour takes you to the Old Court of Justice at KlungKung and Goa Lawah, the Bat Holy Cave, as well as spending plenty of time exploring Pura Besakih, the largest temple of the island and consisting of five temple compounds around the main structure.
* BikeBaik Tours: Bike tours are very popular across Bali - this one takes you into the countryside where you can check out how Bali's rice farmers and rural craftsmen actually live - fascinating!
* West Bali National Park: This beautiful national park stretches across 65,000 acres, Trekking, birdwatching and diving in the adjacent ocean are all popular with tourists. You can see giant water monitors, kutjak deer, jungle fowl, violet crabs, macaques as well as ebony langurs.

Bali's private beaches

If you are mostly going to Bali for the beaches, book your beach hotel in Bali through the dry season, which runs from April to October. While most tourists avoid the wet season in Bali, you can actually save quite a bit of money by going in this period of lower demand. Plan your days to avoid the downpours in the afternoons, and you'll mostly have the beaches to yourself and a beautiful, less expensive holiday besides! Here are some of the quietest (and best!) beaches in Bali:

* Mengiet Beach in Nusa Dua: This runs from the Hyatt hotel to Geger Temple, and has gorgeous white sand and blue water as well as few vendors. You can rent chairs from 20 rupiah per day.
* Jimbaran beach: This is easiest to reach if you are staying in one of the adjacent Bali hotels - but even if you aren't, it is worth coming down to get some of the better waves in Bali.
* Sanur area beaches: The beaches here have less of a tourist-y feeling, and much more of a local flavour. This was the first developed resort area in Bali, but can be nice in times of few tourists.
* Balangan: This beach has almost a Hawaiian feeling, and there are plenty if secluded corners. Access can be difficult... which bodes well for you, if you'd rather enjoy the place by yourself!
